The SimpleThesis Latex package:
Every grad student knows that in the end they're going to have to come to terms with writing a thesis, and for many that means dealing with Latex.  Some senior students have put together a package which provide a great starting point.  To use them you will need to download the following files:

SimpleThesis.tex
SimpleThesis.cls
SamplePicture.eps
SampleBib.bib
SampleAbbrevs.bib
SafeUMCrest97.eps
A huge variety of formats, and information on the use, of the University logo.
AdvancedThesis.pdf
AdvancedThesis.tex
Advancedintrochapter.tex
Advancedreviewchapter.tex
Advancedstudychapter.tex
Advancedfirstbibliography.bib
Advancedsecondbibliography.bib
Edit them using a text editor like emacs, and compile using the `latex' command (see the School Computer Manual or the 2520 Computing Reference Guide (Chapter One) for some latex basics).  Start by looking at the central file SimpleThesis.tex.  You will find that the files are largely self-explanatory.
